Electrochemical Behaviour of Silica Deposited on Stainless Steel by Electrophoretic Deposition

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the characteristics corrosion protection stainless steel substrates coated with silica by electrophoresis pulsed direct current (PDC) and constant (CDC) anodization. Electrophoresis was carried out using sol from sodium silicate solution as an electrolyte solution. Stainless functioned anode carbon a cathode electrode distance 2 cm. amplitude, duty cycle, anodization effect on were evaluated. samples characterized linear polarization electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) see metal scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis morphology coating. This study showed that PDC CDC accompanied could obtain film good (high pore resistance low admittance). Linear results behavior increased Similar obtained EIS which highest 543 ohms, lowest admittance 0.0217. Corrosion are also influenced amplitude cycle during electrophoresis. Silica high at frequency, 80 Hz, 0.5 volts, 60%, respectively. produced resulted in better coating than anodization, seen value its admittance.
